Privacy policy
Effective October 23, 2026
Rolewind helps you find jobs, score your fit, prepare application documents, fill application forms, and track your applications. This policy explains what we collect, why, who we share it with, and how to delete it.
What we collect
- Account details from sign-in: your name, email address, and account ID.
- Your applicant profile: name, email, phone, location, preferred titles, work preferences, whether you need visa sponsorship, and the text of your resume, plus any links you add (LinkedIn, GitHub, portfolio). If you import a resume file, we read its text and do not keep the file.
- Voluntary self-identification answers, only if you choose to give them: gender, whether you are Hispanic or Latino, race, veteran status, disability, whether you identify as LGBTQ+, and pronouns. Each one is optional and offers "I don't wish to answer". We use them only to fill those same questions on applications when you click Fill. We never use them to rank or score jobs, never send them to our AI provider, and never share or sell them. You can clear any answer in Profile at any time.
- Jobs you save or score, match scores and explanations, tailored resumes, cover letters, application stages, and answers generated for application questions.
- If you turn on "Remember answers I write in application forms", the questions and your written answers from forms Rolewind filled.
- Billing records: your Stripe customer and subscription IDs, plan, renewal date, and application allowance. Card details go directly to Stripe. We never see or store them. When you start a free trial we keep Stripe's card fingerprint (a code that identifies the card without revealing it), so each card gets one trial. It stays after you delete your account, without anything that links it to you.
- Messages you send us through the support chat.
The browser extension
The extension asks your browser for access to Rolewind's site, LinkedIn, and the application sites listed below. On any other site it can read a page only after you click the Rolewind icon there. It uses that access only in these cases:
- When you click the Rolewind icon, it reads the job posting on that page: its address, title, company, location, and description. After that, it reads each new page loaded in the same tab, so the panel follows the job you are viewing. It does not read tabs where you have not opened the panel.
- On LinkedIn job pages, it shows a Rolewind card with how the job fits your profile.
- On Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby, Workday, SmartRecruiters, Recruitee, Personio, Workable, iCIMS, Jobvite, BambooHR, Taleo, and SuccessFactors pages, and on the Rolewind practice form, it shows the Rolewind panel when the page contains an application form.
- When you right-click and choose Save job to Rolewind, it reads the job on that page.
To show how a job fits, the extension sends the job posting to Rolewind, which compares it with your profile. This check is not stored. The job is saved to your account only when you click Save, and it is sent to our AI provider only when you ask for an AI match, tailored resume, cover letter, or answers. When you click Fill, the extension sends the page address, title, and form field labels, then fills those fields and may attach your resume and cover letter files in your browser.
The extension does not collect your browsing history and does not read pages unrelated to the job you are viewing. When it fills a form, it checks in your browser whether a field already has an answer so it does not overwrite yours. It never sends what you have typed, unless you turn on "Remember answers I write in application forms" in Settings. With that on, when you press Submit, Apply, Next, or Continue on a form Rolewind filled, it sends the question and your answer from each written-answer field so they can be filled for you next time. It never sends or keeps demographic, ID, contact, or criminal-history answers, and you can see and delete every saved answer in Settings. It stores a sign-in token and a copy of your extension settings in the extension's local storage, and the job shown in each tab in session storage, which your browser clears when it closes. It never submits an application. You do.
When you press Submit or Apply on an application form, the extension watches that page for the site's confirmation, such as "Thank you for applying". If it sees one, it sends the job's address, title, company, and description so the job is marked Applied in your account. It never sends the answers on the form. Until the confirmation shows (at most two minutes), it keeps the form's address and the job's details in local storage, so it also recognises a confirmation page that loads next. You can turn this off in the extension's settings (Track applications I submit).
If you send a problem report from the extension, it sends the page address, the problem you chose, your note, and the form's field labels and types, never your answers. Your extension settings are saved to your account.
Rolewind's use of information received from the extension adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We use it only to provide the features described here. We do not sell it, transfer it for unrelated purposes, use it for advertising, or use it to determine creditworthiness or for lending. People do not read it, except with your permission, for security, or when the law requires it.
How we use your information
- To find and rank jobs that match your titles and preferences.
- To score jobs and write tailored resumes, cover letters, and answers when you ask for them.
- To fill application forms when you click Fill.
- To send you one email a day with new matches and the follow-ups you set, when there is something new. Every email has a link to stop them, and you can turn them off in Settings.
- To run your account, application allowance, and subscription.
- To answer support requests and keep the service secure.
We do not sell your information and we do not show ads.
Who we share it with
We use these providers to run the service:
- Clerk, for sign-in and account management.
- Stripe, for payments and subscriptions.
- OpenAI, to score jobs and write documents and answers. We send your profile, resume text, the job description, and the form questions only when you import a resume or use one of those features. OpenAI states that data sent through its API is not used to train its models by default.
- Our hosting and database providers, which store the data.
- Crisp, if you use the support chat.
- PostHog, to count how the product is used: pages you open and actions such as scoring a job or filling a form, tied to your account ID. It never receives your resume, job descriptions, answers, or anything you type, and it does not record your screen. It honors your browser's Do Not Track setting.
- Resend, to deliver our emails. It receives your email address, first name, and the job titles and companies in the email.
We may also disclose information when the law requires it or to protect the service and its users.
How long we keep it
We keep your data until you delete your account. Stripe keeps payment records as the law requires. Database backups are overwritten on our provider's normal schedule.
Your choices
- Edit your profile and resume at any time on the Profile page.
- Delete your account in Settings. This cancels your subscription and permanently deletes your profile, resume, jobs, documents, and applications.
- Limit the extension to the sites you choose, or to only when you click it, in your browser's extension settings. Or remove it at any time.
- Ask us for a copy of your data, or anything else about your privacy, at support@rolewind.com.
Children
Rolewind is only for people 18 and older, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone younger. If we learn an account belongs to someone under 18, we will close it and delete its data. Your confirmation that you are 18 or older is also used to answer age questions on applications you fill.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date above and tell you in the app when the change is significant.
